About SONU NIGAM

A singer of much repute Sonu Nigam needs no introduction to music lovers of today. Born in a family of well known professional singers, Father Mr. Agam Kumar Nigam and Mother Mrs. Shobha Nigam, music runs in Sonu's blood . Having learnt light classical music from Mr. Mohmmad Tahir in Delhi Sonu was formally guided by his father. At a tender young age of 3-1/2 years Sonu Nigam gave his first stage performance. Sonu Nigam's mellifluous voice charmed and won him a series of awards at All India Level Competitions in Delhi . Following which Sonu Nigam gracefully stopped participating in these competitions to give other budding talents a chance to win. Among his many talents as a kid Sonu Nigam has also acted in various movies like "Kaamchor"," Ustaadi Ustaad Se"," Pyaara Dushman", "Krishna Krishna", "Hum Se Hai Zamana" and a few others. Having completed his schooling in Delhi Sonu moved to Bombay with his father. After a brief but tedious struggle Sonu got his first break as a playback singer by veteran Music Director Usha Khanna in a TV Serial "Talaash" from here onwards there was no looking back for Sonu Nigam. Sonu's first song as play back singer for a movies was "O Aasmaan Wale". Sonu's first hit song also happens to be his first movie released as play back singer "Agar Aasman Tak Mere Hath Jaate" from "Meherbaan". The song "Acha Sila Diya" from the film "Bewafa Sanam" broke all records and established Sonu as the youngest play back singer. After this followed a series of hit songs like"Ishq Me hum Tumhe Kya Batayen" from "Aaja Meri Jaan", "Itna To Bata De", "Chudiyan Banti Hai Dukano Me"," Ek Hansi Ladki Se".

Sonu Nigam's fans also had their fill with such musical hits as Jeet, Safarosh, Sangharsh, Refugee, Papa Kahte Hein, Border-" Sandeshey Aatein Hain". Amongst the many music directors Sonu Nigam has worked with A.R.Rahman, Anu Malik, Nadeem Shravan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Jatin Lalit & Laxmikant Pyarelal in films like "Daur" , "Aur Pyar Ho Gaya", " Tara Ram Pum Pum" & "Mohbbat". Popular TV serial "Sa Re Ga Ma", a complete family entertainer has become synonymous. Sonu Nigam's song "Papa I am Sorry" from the album " Sapne ki Baat” on AIDS awareness has become very popular with the young generation.

After Sonu Nigam tasted stupendous success with T-Series ‘Acchha Sila Diya Tune' from the film ‘Bewafa Sanam' he cut a non-film album namely ‘DEEWANA' with them, which became a top chart buster of 1999 & won the Screen Videocon Awards “ BEST NON-FILM ALBUM of 1999 ”, in 2000 they stormed the pop music world with ‘JAAN' , & now the winning combination of T-Series & Sonu Nigam have yet again come with a very mesmerising & soulful romantic album ‘YAAD'.
