Sangeet Awards...Sonu Nigam leading nominee!

Sangeet Awards happening in Oakland on Sept 24! and...Sonu Nigam got two nominations! Amongst the Best male singers, Sonu Nigam has scored two nominations for Chup Chup Ke (Bunty Aur Babli) and Sun Zara (Lucky).Yayy!!!! I love both the songs! Of couse he should have gotten many more...He also got nominated in the best album category for his new album Chanda ki doli...double yayy! I really really really hope he wins! I dont know other singers in the best male singer category, but those competing for best album are Abhijeet Sawant for Aapka Abhijeet and Tera Mera Pyaar by myriad artists, and Teri Kasam by Adnan Sami...oh and Abhijeet is also nominated for best male singer...he's good, yeah, but Sonu Nigam is unbeatable...a Best New Voice award should suffice for Abhijeet Sawant, I think...

Other interesting nominations...

In the film music category, Javed Akhtar is leading the list of nominees for the Best Lyricist with four nominations for Tere Liye (Veer Zara), Woh Kisna Hai (Kisna), Yeh Tara Woh Tara (Swades) and Yun Hi Chala (Swades).

The singers vying for the award of the best female singers are: Alka Yagnik for Aankhen Bandh Karke (Aitraaz) and Lata Mangeshkar for Yeh Hum Aa Gaye Hai Kahan (Veer Zara), Shreya Ghosal for Piyu Bole (Parineeta) and Sunidhi Chauhan for Dhoom Machale (Dhoom).

The movies competing in the Best film album category are Aitraaz, Lucky, Dhoom and Veer Zara.

Indian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant is a nominee in four categories: Best new voice for his two songs- Lafzon and Mohabbatein Lutaunga from his album Aapka Abhijeet Sawant. He has also been nominated in the best singer male category, best song category and for the best album category.

Thats it for now...

Let Sonu bark; I will not react!

Babul Supriyo:
I have stopped reading newspapers: That's one reason that I haven't actually read what Sonu (Nigam) has said about me in his interviews. But yes, my inbox has been flooded with comments from well wishers who have taken an exception to him calling me a 'traitor'.
Frankly speaking, I don’t want to react to such ridiculous accusations. I feel sorry for him that he has had to stoop to such levels to malign me in public. Let Sonu bark; I will not react.

I believe that every person has the right to disagree with someone else's view: But I don't see myself sitting across the table and sorting out issues with Sonu. It’s been long since I said that singers are nothing but puppets in the hands of music composers.

But I disagree with singers if they want to complain about being puppets. We are all self-made puppets and have chosen to be that way.

I don't agree with the view of trying to make a collective statement about all artistes: At the end of the day, every artiste's struggle is very individualistic

But yes, I surely hope that artistes should come together to ensure that the clause in the Copyright Act that calls singers vocal instruments need to be amended. A Lata Mangeshkar can’t be called a 'vocal instrument’.

Having said that, I have no qualms in admitting that I'm still not No. 1 in the industry: I am just part of the playing six and on any given day I know I can score. It all depends on who gets the song.

I also know that every good song is not a hit and every hit is not always the best song sung by the singer. All that I can do is to deliver to the best of my ability. I am happy with my growth and am pretty much sure that right now I am close to being my very best.

Sometimes, people point at me singing with a nasal tone. It’s natural in me and I think it's the namak that’s required to spice up my song.

Over the years, I have evolved as an artiste: I have learnt from my mistakes. During the late 90s, I would feel every good song that I recorded would change my life. I would wait for an opportunity to rattle off the names of my forthcoming films at every interview that I was giving.

But today, I don't get a kick out of indulging in such acts. My maturity has taught me not to get affected by either the hype or the whimper. There are days when a good song of mine doesn’t even get promoted during a film's publicity, resulting in people not even hearing it before they can decide whether they like it or not.

People in far away Surinam have liked Aate aate so much that they have greeted me with candles while I have sung the number there. But back home, people haven’t been so forthcoming about this song. If I don't get flustered with such discrepancies in reactions, it's not because I've lost interest or become a stoic.

For me, it's far easier to just take it all in my stride and say: Chal hat! It’s all about accepting surprises with a sense of humour.

I agree with Kumar Sanu when he says that today's singers have few lasting numbers: Very recently, I was traveling along with Sanu da from Delhi to Mumbai. I consider it to be his greatness when he said that he felt that Sonu and I are lambi race ka ghoda.

Had it not been for Sanu da and Udit ji, I wouldn't have dreamt of quitting my job in Kolkata and going over to Mumbai. He was the one who made me believe that it's possible for an ordinary singer to reach extraordinary limits if he is focused and believes in his dreams.

That day Sanu da had told me that while it was possible for him to choose a compilation of 100 great compositions from his repertoire, singers from our generation will not be able to do that.I couldn’t disagree with him at all. After all, the only timeless song I’ve sung till date is Hum Tum.

But it's true that the old order changeth and we need to move ahead with times: After the huge success of Hum Tum, I was flooded with romantic songs. Even my daughter knows that daddy always sings mushy numbers.

But now when I see a six-year-old child enjoying a Kajra re, I feel I would want to sing numbers like that.

A mushy number doesn't feature in the dictionary of a child. But a Kajra re does. That's why when I was given the chance to record my own album, I have made it a point to sing a bhangra as well as a ghazal kind of a number composed by Pt Ajoy Chakraborty.

With my non-film album, I have sung my dreams and not just lent my voice to the dreams my music composers or my directors.

**Argh. The cheek of Babul Supriyo! This article is in connection to the Babul-Sonu issue regarding the Singers' Association of India(SAI), check the earlier posts for this article...
Sonu was only standing up for the rights of singers! I feel he and Alka Yagnik and the organisation are totaally in the right, and he so did NOT need a lash out by Babul Supriyo... "bark" indeed!

Communicator 9500

Sonu Nigam's quite new phone- the Communicator 9500...he switched from nokia 6230 to this one...its quite cool looking huh? its more like a computer than a phone...jam packed with cool features...and apparently his poor thumbs have been dying because of SMSing, last time checked, he'd sent 1800 SMSes from his phone...imagine! 1800!!! check out the article at the link provided...

so long!

Once again...kitni narmi se....

Right...i think i have this weird inclination to get emotional about songs (mostly Hindi, and mostly SN), at unearthly hours in the night...So. I blasted Kitni Narmi Se in my ears...see when I really like a certain song, I blast it into my ears at night, lying down, just before sleeping...and blasting means putting my ipod on very hgh volume with my earphones on...yeah, so..i blasted kitni narmi se about 4 times just now, (that's after repeatedly listening to this very same song the entire day today...) and i ..well..got emotional...its such a nice song, dammit... its really hard to explain and all that, but the tune is just beautiful, sonu's voice does full justice to the song..such a soulful rendition, it touched my heart and man, its not letting go..."rang sa zindagi mein gholti hai.." is currently repeatedly playing in my head again and again..)

add the nice, lovely fact that my name's there in the song, beautifully uttered by sonu nigam, "khushboo jaise fiza mein chhaati hai..." how nice...you just really have to listen to the song closely to understand what i mean...just close your eyes, let go of everything, relax, play the music loud in your ears and you can just feel sonu nigam.... thats how i feel anyway...

and then the entire song echoes, and its such a nice effect, you have to hear it loud to be able to tell, a split second echo of the entire song, even the music, although its harder to tell than echoing sonu's voice...the "echoey" makes the song resonate in your ears and god, i love this song. need i say anymore?

now that i have expressed my love for this song, i shall go back to bed and listen to it some more and fall asleep with sonu nigam's voice resounding in my ears...such a touching piece of music...sobs...

"The One"- Star Column by Sonu Nigam

THE 'ONE'
Written By Sonu Nigam

One came to Bombay, one came to become a singer, one was always a singer, one wanted to become a better singer, or maybe…a better-known singer! One day One did become one!

Now one suddenly decides to become two-in-one! Or should one say one has been instigated to become one! Excellent approach towards life should one say! Killer instinct! People look up to you, with a mixed feeling of admiration and perplexity, secretly harboring a deep un-answerable grudge against you wishing someday you might fail.

But is it that easy to be called a fighter? Is it a joke to be given this adjective and then live up to it throughout your journey? In an age when in the name of gurus and teachers, all you get are publicity freaks, when all you can do when in dilemma or indecision, is look for a sign or a good omen around you, to cheer you up, when all you can find in times of crisis is yourself and your shadow, trying to talk in a language which nobody ever wanted to learn since that's the closest way to understand you, and finally who cares to understand you…the only way you can survive in this rat race is self inspire yourself!

Talking about one, a friend invites one to write a column! Something one has read a lot but written none! But then its 'One'! And one wouldn't want ever to disappoint people; one is used to entertaining people on one's expense; actually on other's expense too since one is a quiet eyewitness to all the happenings in the industry. But today, one starts with a complete, honest confession about one's own present state! What better than a truth to start with?

Just watched on News how Norah Jones grabbed 8 Grammy awards...and what is all the more annoying is the fact that one would have been a witness to this extraordinary event had it not been for the delayed release of Kaash aap...

For the first time in one's life, one is going through a patch where one's just completely disgruntled with everything around!

When one was struggling, there were disillusionments, there were days of frustration, nights of isolation and disenchantments, a feeling of indecision and nervousness as to whether one is going to make it or not but, one most important thing which was quite minuscule at that time was… STAKES!

One's honor was at stake but to a very small extent. If one didn't make it, at the most the so-called friends and colleagues would have looked at ludicrously, made fun of, that's it!

Today one's first solo hero project comes to the theatres. Frankly one was never ever apprehensive about one's ability to emote, specially after the first 2-3 days of shoot in Vancouver, but one thing which was always there at the back of one's mind was, the open mindedness of the public to accept one as an actor, after 10 long years of being in the lime-light as a crooner! In a way it's testing a common man's sense of positivism, which to be very honest is pushing one's luck too far.

Why would a common man want to accept one as an actor is the million dollar question, unless one is a part of an extremely prestigious and infallible project? Psychologically they don't mind creating a new star, but they surely do mind giving further power and acclamation to an already established star because firstly, their expectations have considerably risen by now for that particular artiste, secondly, one can't deny the fact that due to an innate unseen oblivious feeling of jealousy, or to put it more moderately, envy, they are hell bent on being all the more critical! And to their sheer good luck, if at all the product is not as marvelous as God, they are most ready with their brickbats aimed at their most vulnerable target, the ambitious crooner.

In the process, they are ready to overlook a fact that they themselves are aware of and have been giving intellectual opinion on! "Factor" factor! Factors responsible for a great performance! Now where does their understanding of the entire medium go? The same people who seem to know all about the critical aspects that comprise to make a great or a successful movie are ready to overlook the fact that it is a movie, tailor-made to showcase a hugely popular star's talented daughter, leaving almost negligible scope for this so called ambitious little crooner who is loitering in this big fast competitive world of film industry alone, without a god-father, in the hope of one person who would do an honest job in presenting his newly acquired skill of acting, to the world by giving him enough footage to make an impact!

How can they choose to forget the fact that given a bad movie and subject, even the biggest of stalwarts have failed to make an impact at the box-office? When one says this, one doesn't mean to state that the movie was made badly or incompetently, in fact contrary to one's apprehensions, the film has been critically quite decently received all over with a few references of some very obvious flaws. As a matter of fact one doesn't think any one wants to make a bad movie, it's just that sometimes things fall in their place perfectly to give shape to a milestone movie, and sometimes, even the most genuine and tedious of intentions, fail to create any ripple. That's where the unexplainable theory of "Some One Up There" shudders you…to wake you up from the dream of self-concern!

And when one is so sure of this theory, why should one then worry as to why are people being so analytic about one's work, when there are so many more Newcomers on the block who are trying their luck in spite of being complete immature in their approach towards acting? The reason for one's disconcert is as simple and ancient as History. One wants to be appreciated in every single effort that one makes since one has this gut feeling that one is capable of learning and mastering everything. Now one has to ask this difficult question to oneself that does one have to satisfy one's creative instinct by gradually trying to achieve an art that was once beyond one's parameters, or one wants instant public accolade for something that one feels, actually, is not up to the mark? Choose!

Does every individual always get what he deserves? Is everything that is appreciated by the so-called Know-Alls, worthwhile? Are we always answerable to everybody for every damn effort that we make? Does everybody understand everybody? Everything? Isn't there something called tomorrow? Don't people get raped? Cheated? Beaten? Tortured? Tested? Humiliated? Ignored? Jilted? Yeah they do suffer, as a matter of fact, much more than one is presently!

One needs to optimistically look ahead and wait with perseverance for an opportunity where one gets another chance to attempt. There is no guarantee as to whether that attempt would be universally accepted, but there is one sure shot guarantee; there will be much more involvement in that effort owing to the increased vulnerability, and secondly, psychologically, audience has the habit of being a little less severe and nasty on a person who appears morally and spiritually down and broken, and who has gone through a 'Humiliation' session already once, in the previous attempt.

One has to go on, treading the same path intently, until one can finally reckon the entire world that efforts can be ridiculed or undermined but, they can't be quelled, crushed, because, the former is in the "Mighty" hands of "All", but the latter is in the "Almighty" hands of …….ONE

BORDER'
Written By Sonu Nigam

Controversies, whether fair or unfair, are invariably exciting, always. In fact I reckon that they are the spice of our lives, add glamour and style to show biz specially!

Every body wants success. And the only fields where success comes with stardom and money are show biz, sports and to some extent politics (I must be joking…. there's a hell lot of more money in politics certainly!).

And that's why every artiste wants to make it in showbiz and the only place which has a magical spell to make your dreams come true overnight, for a south Asian native, is Bombay, India! Although films and music are made and marketed in other parts of Asia too but nothing can match the style, fan following and popularity of Indian stars!

And where do the stars make money? The bulk of their money comes from stage shows and performances! Inside the country and abroad! And where all do Indians perform abroad? Well, wherever there are people who follow Indian movies, TV's and music. America, Europe, Middle East, Australia, Fiji, Africa, Caribbean. Everywhere! Indian artistes are welcome everywhere, so they are everywhere.

But the best part is that Indians have been unrestricted to a stream of artistes from different countries. Whether they were from Pakistan or Bangladesh or Britain, they all came here, were applauded for their art and talent and went back to their countries with a smiling face and filled pockets! Which is completely agreed! At every age, in every country, giving patronages to art and artistes was considered inevitable for the growth, grooming and beautification of the society in totality.

But here is the issue! Is it the obligation of only one society or country to patronize artistes? Isn't it the moral and social duty of one country to also facilitate the artistes of the homologous country, which has diligently supported and encouraged their artistes from time to time? Talking about Pakistan, a Pakistani friend of mine once said that Indian stars enjoy more fan following in Pakistan than their own country! Which is a truth since art knows no boundaries. If I love Mehdi Hassen, nobody can stop me from doing so, although he is a Pakistani! But then I really wish Indian stars could enjoy Pakistani fans in Pakistan too, like Pakistani stars enjoy Indian admirers in India! The only time I come across Pakistani admirers is when I am abroad, and believe you me, the appreciation and regards you get from them, spoils you, makes you crave for more!

Thus Abhijeet questioning this imbalance and raising this issue cannot be totally denounced. Although targeting Adnan and others may not be in good taste but then everyone has his own way of retaliating and agitating, he is an extremely up-front kind of a person, and knowing him personally, this is his way of expressing his hurt!

As for Adnan, all I can do is just express my solidarity to him as an artiste, for he is a commendable musician and has all the right to fame and success, as all others have, and hope he can someday prove his solidarity for the country that has given him all, name, fame, money and above all artistic satisfaction, something every artist yearns for!

Hoping instead of getting personal, this controversy takes a constructive shape in bringing together the intellectuals of both the nations and resolve this issue amicably without hurting anyone's feeling and sentiments!

And lastly one secret…although not too many artistes are coming forward in accordance to what Abhijeet has to say but personally, after discussing this issue with a lot of them, I concluded that all of them share the same grievance, some aggressive, some complaisant, yet some hopeful like me!

Lewd: Sonu Nigam won’t sing Salman’s new song

**this is something i bumped into today...highly interesting...read on

Music Albums — ankit @ 6:14 am

It is perhaps the first ever salvo fired by a playback singer against a lyricist in Hindi cinema.

Sonu Nigam took a firm resolve on Sunday and refused to lend his voice to “tacky, double entendre laden lyrics” of a song penned by Sameer. The song is for a forthcoming David Dhawan film, starring Salman Khan.

“The song had cheap lyrics, like ‘Shaadi ki pehli raat, maine aisa maara dhakka… maine doodh pee liya…’ I messaged the music composer, Himesh Reshammiya, stating that the lyrics are embarrassing and inappropriate, and I cannot sing the song,” said Nigam. “Himesh understood my predicament. He did not persist and lauded my decision.”

Meanwhile, Reshammiya maintains, “not recording such a song yet”, while Sameer insists that the “lyrics were not penned by me”. Nigam however adds that the female version has already been recorded. He restrained from naming the vocalist.

Songs from David Dhawan’s films have been known to court controversy through the ‘90s. His films raised public outcry on account of their vulgar or sub-standard songs — prominent among them being Sarkai lo khatiya (Raju Babu) and Teri nani mari toh (Coolie No 1).

Nigam concluded, “We need to realise that a voice enjoys a certain degree of sanctity. It is the singer’s responsibility to preserve that purity and not let his listeners down.”

**i was very happy after reading this, because it shows Sonu Nigam's sensitivity and care and concern for his listeners...he also is so nice at heart..

Handwriting Analysis

when i was surfing the net yesterday, i bumped into this...it's really interesting and VERY accurate, so just decided to put this up here...

Sonu Nigam
This person's handwriting denotes that his heart rules his head. He is extremely emotional and highly sensitive. Not only is he artistically inclined, he is also gifted with a poetic sense. His power of visualization is very strong.

Though he puts up a happy front, there is an emotional suppression within him that is linked to his past. Presently, he is going through a low phase. Chances are that he has been through a major depression in his life that almost killed his spirit to live.

Nevertheless, he is also spiritually inclined and has intuitive powers…something not many people are blessed with!

His writing clearly suggests that he will always benefit from somebody's support. However, he should be extremely careful with whom he gets into business with for chances are that he might get cheated. Not to mention that he does not possess the required business acumen. Apart from this, mismanagement of finance will be a constant problem with him.

He should also be careful with himself as sudden accidents are indicated. His writing indicates that he had extremely poor health when he was a child. Chances are that he might hurt his spinal chord or his leg in the near future. Problems related to blood pressure are also indicated.

As mentioned before, he is highly emotional. Had he married earlier, his marriage would have broken up by now. Earlier he was extremely possessive. Now of course things have changed. The period 2001 to 2005 is very positive for him. Chances are that in this period he might get married (a love marriage) and his first child will be a baby girl. I suggest that he should start being more aware in whatever he does and should be careful with his emotional relationships.

**nice handwriting huh? its so...well....cute! and the analysis i feel is really quite accurate...freaky even, its amazing how you can tell so much about a person from his handwriting, like his character etc...

beautiful songs...

i know its really really late, but i simply cannot refrain from saying this...most of the new songs by SN are really really beautiful, especially tu jahan from salaam namaste( by the way i watched this and the movie absolutely rocks! its really cool and hip, weird slightly in some parts, but falling-off-chair kind of hilarious to its very bone, and also great acting by preity, saif and arshad...), back to the point, other songs like kitni narmi se from dil jo bhi kahe, jal jal ke dhuan from Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena...these are three of some of the SN songs i'm absolutely in love ( with a capital "L") with right now...if you havent heard them, check 'em out...they're great...

Setbacks bring me closer to god: Sonu Nigam:-

** ok i know this is sort of outdated, not very recent anyway, but its a really nice interview, it shows such a great, not often seen side of him...

Mumbai | August 23, 2005 9:25:07 AM IST

Life has been somewhat bittersweet lately for playback singer Sonu Nigam, with a near escape in Kabul, reports of a souring marriage and a semi-hit album under his belt.
In an interview with IANS, the popular singer talks candidly about his feelings -- and his newfound passion for yoga and spiritualism.

Q: Your life seems to be in turmoil.

A: Why do you say that? I've never been more at peace. Sure, there will always be ups and downs... Like the stage collapsed in Kabul when I performed recently. But for every Kabul there is Babul... I sang a song recently for a film of this name. And I was moved beyond measure. If I get a song like that I am willing to pay the music director instead of vice versa.

Q: What happened in Kabul?

A: Anything could have happened! There was a crowd of 50,000 people. If it were India or Pakistan, the audience would have probably stormed the stage and killed us all! But the crowd in Kabul was so well behaved.

Earlier I was in the middle of an explosion in Pakistan. Sometimes too much publicity is harmful. But I found the Pathans in Afghanistan to be thorough gentlemen.

Q: And the women?

A: Couldn't tell. They were in burqas. But they were dancing at my show! Have you ever heard of women in burqa dancing at a live concert?

Q: No, not really!

A: I feel sad it ended so abruptly. I sang only six numbers when my world collapsed. I started singing "Saathiya..." and the stage broke.

Q: Maybe Rahman isn't very lucky for you?

A: He's VERY lucky for me. All the songs I've sung for him have been landmarks.

Q: Are you happy with the way your new album "Chanda Ki Doli" has fared?

A: I didn't expect it to be so successful. According to my company T Series, the market is so bad that nothing sells. But it isn't so much the market as the marketing that needs to be improved. If you project a song as a Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan or Shahid Kapur number, no one will go to a music store to buy it. They would rather watch the film and forget the song.

On the other hand if the singer is highlighted, hype is created around him, people will buy the CDs. All these music companies are in it only for money. To do a good album you have to fight tooth and nail. Fortunately, I am easy to work with. No one can question my professionalism.

Q: But your "Chanda Ki Doli" was well promoted.

A: All the promos that you saw for my new album were masterminded by me. Thanks to Sony Entertainment, my album got noticed on television. Though T Series would never acknowledge it, Sony played a very important role in projecting "Chanda Ki Doli".

Q: Things don't seem to be going too well for you on the personal front?

A: No, no. My life has never been better. I am in great shape. I am in the best state of mind. These setbacks don't matter to me at all. In fact they get me closer to god.

Q: The media is taking great interest in the state of your marriage?

A: I know. Someone called up my wife pretending to be concerned about what happened in Kabul but actually wanting to know more about our marriage. That is fine. I have learnt to accept these intrusions as part and parcel of my life as a public figure.

Q: For the record is your marriage off or on?

A: It's on standby.

Q: Are you happy with life otherwise?

A: You can't expect life to be stress-free. Once in a while something happens to upset me, I welcome that. I wouldn't grow as a person if there were no hardships. On the whole I have been happy for seven years. I have gone so deeply into my personality.

Yoga has changed my life. Though I am still far away from being a complete yogi, I am on the way. My younger sister's guru got me into this. Since he is not connected with films, he guides me without awe or prejudice.

Q: What is more important for you, music or spiritualism?

A: Spiritualism. That is my priority from one to 10. Music comes at number 11. I wake up at 3 a.m. to do my yoga till 7.30 a.m. My work is also getting better because I am in a better state of mind. I let life take its own course. I am earning and learning. I am reading and growing as a human being. My songs and my spirit are doing well. And I interact better with people. When I was in a negative frame of mind, everything went wrong.

Q: What else are you planning?

A: I want to do a pure classical album... something on the lines of Hussain Baksh. I like his blend of Punjabi style singing and good lyrics. For me, he is the master of that genre. I hope that happens to me before I grow old.

Sonu, Supriyo slug it out

Upala KBR, September 6, 2005

On Sunday night, singers Sonu Nigam and Babul Supriyo had a heated battle of words at music director Aadesh Srivastava’s birthday party at the surburban Hotel Sun-n-Sand located in Juhu.

The argument was sparked off by a disagreement over the issue of royalty earned on songs — a dispute that has been going on between music companies (which presently charge royalties) and singers, music directors and lyricists (who believe it is their prerogative).

On March 31, hitList had reported that Sonu and Alka Yagnik had formed an association called SAI (Singers’ Association of India).

Recounts an eyewitness, “When Alka and Sonu came in, they started whispering to each other. When Aadesh was cutting his cake, Alka was standing next to him, when singer Abhijeet came and stood close behind her. Irritated, she moved away. Afterwards, Sonu and Abhijit were seen engrossed in conversation. Later, a huge fight broke out between Sonu and Babul.”

Not physical

When contacted, Sonu admitted, “Yes there was an argument, but not a physical one. Though if it had come to that, I wouldn’t have minded. I have not beaten up anyone for a long time,” he added with a smile.

Singer or traitor?

Without naming Babul Supriyo, Sonu said he was very angry about the episode. “I am angry. We have a union of singers and if we find one person trying create a rift by bribing or influencing important people, we will not take it lying down. We found out who the person was and took up the issue with him.

We were having discussions about royalties and this singer told someone at the party that if we bribe a person, our job would get done. It has been repeated in history that there is always one traitor who lets every cause down. Today, we have a Jaichand in our midst too,” he added.

“Lataji has started this association and we are putting our hearts into it. Nobody can ruin our efforts. I told this singer to say whatever he has to my face – muh ke peeche mat bol!” Sonu and the rest of the singers have decided for the moment not to take any action. “The person doesn’t really matter. We will go ahead with our work,” said an angry Sonu.

Aadesh’s version

Says Aadesh, “There have been discussions on royalties going on with singers, lyricists and music directors. Till now, music companies have been getting royalties, including for ringtones, which is unfair.

The creator of the song is also entitled to royalty. There are many poor, neglected music directors, singers and lyricists who need medical aid and money. This royalty would be a much-needed source of relief for them.”

Babul’s amnesia

Babul Supriyo had a temporary loss of memory. When asked for his version, he denied attending the party. “I wasn’t there,” he said. But when we said we had pictures, he changed his line to, “Yes, I had gone there, but for a short time. I refuse to comment on anything.”

People saw him fighting with Sonu at the party. “Whatever you saw was just friendly hugs and discussions. There was no fight.” But he has been accused of letting down his association members. “If certain accusations have been made against me, and I feel they are baseless, I don’t need to react to them,” ended Babul abruptly.

hi

hey this is my very first post on this site/blog...i dont know what to call it, because its not entirely any of them, but sort of somewhere in the middle..okay...first things first...this site is ENTIRELY DEVOTED to Sonu Nigam, the most amazing, most talented Indian singer the world has ever ever seen...words fail me here for it is hard to desrcibe my obsession with Sonu. Since I was young, about 7/8/around there, I watched the show "TVS Saregama", now "Hero Honda Saregamapa" then hosted by the brilliant Sonu Nigam, now hosted by Shaan. I really really like Sonu's charming personality, the way he talked, his sweet voice, etc and all that, which I found extremely appealing as a child. But to be honest only in recent years, maybe 3-4 years ago did I ENTIRELY fall in love with Sonu Nigam. To describe his numerous talents and to explain why he stands right at the top of the singing industry is next to impoosible. His sweet, velvety, melodious voice, his intense concentration in his singing, his passion and love that practically creates an aura around him when he sings, you can feel the vibes- he really loves to sing, and he does it well. To further enhance his popularity are his boyish charm and good looks. From what I've heard and read about him, he's extremely easygoing and very very very nice. I'm sure he is, how can he not be? He's Sonu Nigam!!!

So yeah, essentially this site is going to be there for all the diehard Sonu fans who are frustrated at the lack or even absence of fansites for this marvellous singer. I really hope that this works out, and all us fans can dedicate our love for someone ho's done so much for us...

i'm going to post news and updates on everything Sonu Nigam using resources from the MSN group SonuNigamUnlimited and the Sonu Nigam group on Yahoo Groups...these two are great places to hang out with other Sonu Nigam fans like me and you so do take a look and sign up...

after this general introductory post, i'm going to post up the latest news I've received on Sonu Nigam....so here goes!
